Change in Pine Island NC Retreat Date!!!

Greetings!!

We've changed the date of our North Carolina Outer Banks - Pine Island Retreat with Lisa Bongean - Primitive Gatherings.  With the current issues we are all facing, it's important to be sure we are all kept safe.  So, the owner of the Pine Island home and our realty partner - Atlantic Realty in Corolla, North Carolina have helped us to secure a later date - September 28 - October 4, 2020.  September still has superb-enjoyable outdoor temperatures and the weather is fantastic for walking on the beach and enjoying the great pool!  Plus... we're all going to need a FUN time after in a few months.

We invite all of you to join in this great retreat with us!  This is our second visit to Pine Island and we want each of you to have the most fantastic time - sewing, relaxing, stitching, making new friends, spending time with family members, enjoying great meals, yummy desserts, and having the best time...one you'll always remember.

Lisa will design exclusive wool projects for you (handwork) and I will show each of you how to weave a great "gathering basket" to use with your projects or maybe even in your garden!   It's a first for all of you and we can't wait to show you how.

We've adjusted the upfront deposit - giving you all more time for your final payment.  Fees include all lodging, food, instruction, kits, travel insurance, surprises (lots of them) and more!   Travel to and from the event will be your responsibility.  We do suggest if you are flying you purchase a "transferrable/refundable" ticket. You will fly into the Norfolk, Virginia airport.  Car rentals should have applicable coverage in the contract in the event you need to cancel for any reason.

Read over the registration form and let me know if you have any questions.  Sign up today!  We do have a limited number of rooms for Single Occupancy only.  Rooms have king beds (double occupancy) plus private bath.

Every guest must complete a registration form.   (< click to download form)   We are unable to give any refunds on cancellations within 30 days prior to the event.  More details are documented on the registration form.

So... grab your girlfriend or a family member and bring them along with you.  It's GREAT FUN to SHARE THE FUN!

Please contact me by phone (904)742-1100 or email -  oldgreencupboard@aol.com.

We can't wait to stitch and relax at the beach with all of you!

Lisa, Vicky, Gloria

April Camp Blanding Retreat!

Hi to all!

I wanted to share with each of you our April Camp Blanding Retreat has been canceled.  The command needs to keep the Armory Building and the Lodging open and available in the event the National Guard needs the facilities.

It also goes in accordance with the mandate that less than 50 people gather together in one social event.  So... our social gathering will wait until... Hopefully July.  If for any reason we need to adjust dates on the July retreat - we will let you know.  July is a VERY BUSY month for lodging since the active reserve members can make reservations 6 months in advance.  Many of them use this opportunity to book their cottages for summer vacation with their children.

It's a waiting game and one we will have to be understanding with.

In the meantime.... dig out those projects and get busy working on them.  We shall be in charge of this nasty VIRUS and get our sewing done inside our homes.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.  Take no risks!  If you are of the age and health that can catch this bug easier... stay inside.

Hugs to all!!!

Gloria, Vicky & Heather

p.s.  We are getting a new website soon... stay tuned!!

It's almost FEBRUARY!

Wow.... I swear we just finished with Christmas!  Where did the month of January fly to?  Vicky and I have been in Dallas and Atlanta over the past three weeks helping our friends (from K & K Interiors) in their show rooms.  What fun we have... it's so great to see the entire group once a year and hear how their year has gone.  Then we get to chat with customers that come back to us year after year to order new merchandise for their shops!  The showrooms were so "over the top" this year.... the most gorgeous I've seen them.  The stylists work so hard to make everything look so wonderful for the customer... they are the behind the scenes folks and deserve a lot more recognition than what it seems we all give them!  It's a true talent to take merchandise and mix it all together so it is simply impossible to NOT want to order everything!

Now that we are back home... it's down to business here!  We have a busy next few months...whew!  First thing... our Camp Blanding February Retreat!  Oh yes... we are ready to hang out with our CB group and get some fun sewing finished.

The dates (in case you haven't enrolled as of today) are from February 27 - March 1, 2020.  We also have been assigned lodging!  Mark this date and time on your calendar, phone, ipad, so you will remember.... Sunday, February 2 at 7:00 pm.  Sign on to our website:

and then move to the LODGING area on the site (look to the right side) and pick out your choice:

Single Lodging:    Thursday night - $30 per person       Friday & Saturday night - $60 per person      (These are the Jack-n-Jill units.  If you are wanting a room beside you for your friend - ONLY ONE OF YOU NEEDS TO PURCHASE LODGING FOR BOTH OF YOU.  When I see one person purchasing two rooms - I automatically place your rooms side by side to share the bathroom.  The single units have a small refrigerator and a microwave.

Cottage Lodging:    Thursday night - $90         Friday & Saturday night   - $180
(Cottages have two bedrooms.  One has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds.  It also has a living room, full kitchen (with limited dishes, etc.), bathroom and eating area)

If you have any questions prior to signing up for lodging, please call me at 9045-742-1100.

I'll chat with you later on what else is happening at the Olde Green Cupboard and with the Parsons' family!  It's gonna be a fun year!

Remember when you were little and you couldn't wait until the first snow?  All you wanted to do is get outside and build a snowman... or maybe even three!  This week's ornament "It's All About Family" is one of the best things about the holiday season!  During the year we are so busy with our own lives we just seem to pass by times when we could all be together.  However, there is always great hugs, laughter, fun, and food within our family during the holiday season!  It's just wonderful!

This group of family is made from wool and the little baby snowman is made from wool roving balls that are connected together and attached to the ornament.  Simply adorable.  Download your free pattern, order your kit, and have fun making number nine in our Twelve Weeks of Christmas!

Dear Santa!

DEAR SANTA!

So... have the kids and grand kids already been thinking about what they would like for Christmas?  What they want to ask Santa for?

I can remember my sister and I sprawled out near the Christmas tree - with the sparkling lights shining on the pages of our toy catalogs from Sears, Spiegel, Montgomery Wards... (I'm  telling on my age) ... eating popcorn and drinking Kool-Aid... with our crayons in hand circling pictures of all the toys we loved!  We did not have much money in our family when we were little, but we made great memories - special moments like this BEING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY!   We knew Santa could not bring everything on our list - but we sure had fun giving him options!  HA!

These types of memories last through a child's lifetime - not what toy they received -  but the entire process of being together as a family and celebrating with fun traditions.

So let's begin with each child completing their personal Christmas list (included in kit) - then rolling it up and placing in Santa's mitten and hanging on the tree  with excitement!

Santa is appliqued onto Army blanket wool.
Finishes approximately 10" x 10"

Kit Contents:

Pattern Instructions and Templates
Army Blanket Wool
All Wool for Santa
Black Twill Tape (for mitten)
Heavy Duty Iron-on Fusible
Rusty Jingle Bells
Black Clip Hook (to hang the ornament)
Alphabet Templates - for adding child's name if applicable
