Today... it's a trip down memory lane...especially for those of you that are around my age... you know...being kids in the 50's - 70's!!!  One of my friends - Lori - posted a ton of wonderful things from my childhood on Pinterest this morning... I just have to share with you.  It make take two days of posting... there are so many memories... I hope you have wonderful ones from your childhood...

Let me take you on this ride.............................

Sweet little hats and white gloves for special events.  I remember wearing little white gloves and home made dresses for our 8th Grade graduation.  I'll have to find that picture, scan it in the computer and show you... it's a riot...with our red hair - WHITE cat shaped glasses...we were a site to see...let me tell you!

I can't tell you how I hated these chairs.  They were so uncomfortable and never enough table space.  We not only had them at our grade school - but in the high school too!!  I remember when I wore my back brace (for 4 years) I couldn't fit into this thing and still have enough room to bend over from the hips to see my desk top.  They had to bring in a table and chair for me!!  How embarrassing...!

OH MY GOSH... I LOVED STIRRUP PANTS!!!  Didn't you?  The only thing...they had to be the perfect fit... if they were to short... you could feel them creeping down your waist and your crotch would soon be falling around your knees.  If they were toooooo long... you would get huge bumps in the knees!!  hahahahahahahaa!!!!!  Too funny!!

Hey...we used these in typing class!  Erase your mistake and then brush away the crumbs.  You couldn't keep making the same mistake over and over or you would have no paper left from all the erasing!!!  All those crumbs sure had a bad effect on the inside of the typewriter.  I'll never forget going to my typing class in high school and looking down at the keyboard to see NOTHING on the keys.  We learned from pure memory!!!  eeekkkkk!!!  Oh how I LOVED TYPING CLASS!!!!   LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!!

Remember these????  This is the card inside a library book they would stamp when you checked out a book!  I used to love to look at it before checking out my book to see if I knew anyone that had already read it.  My sister, Vicky, worked in a library the entire time we were in high school.  She sure has touched MANY of these sweet things!!

I can remember shopping in K-Mart when I was a kid with my parents and hearing the announcement of the Blue Light Special.  Mom would always stop and listen for the item...then if she wasn't interested... we would keep on shopping.  Remember when K-Mart was the ONLY big box store to shop in?  Now I'm not sure how they are staying alive.  The one closest to us NEVER has more than 12 cars in the parking lot!!  So sad! 

Oh My Gosh... I love cigar bubble gum... STILL DO!!!  Is it made any longer?  I'll have to check that out the next time I'm in the Gate station...they have every kids candy in the world!  These tasted so darn good... my favorite was the banana!!!  Yumilicious!  I can taste it right now!

Heck... I can remember all of us girls taking turns sitting under these!  We look like space people.  I also remember the plastic (hot) smell from them... do you?  It sure did the trick of drying your hair fast when it was full of rollers!!

Now...this my friends ... brings back WONDERFUL MEMORIES.  Jack (my honey) and I used to go to the drive-in movies when we were dating... I remember the first movie I saw with him.  James Bond - Goldfinger!!!  I had to be home early.... (darn it) and we didn't even get to see the end of it.  What wonderful memories... I loved him so much (still do)!  For those of you that don't know what these are...they are the speakers that you would pull up beside and hang the speaker on your drivers window.

SILLY PUDDY!!!  We would beg Mom for this... and we would do exactly what they are showing... press it on the cartoons every Sunday!  Then smash it all up and do it again.  So silly but so much fun.

I LOVED these glasses.  Let me tell you...there is nothing that tasted better than drinking ICE COLD Kool-Aid from one of these glasses (aluminum)... I wish we still could ... it tasted so good.  These were a "staple" in every one's kitchen during the 50's!

This was one of my favorite things in the whole wide world.  Vicky and I wanted a baton so bad....sssssooooo... badddddddddd.  Mom and Dad took us into town - to the music store (they sold REAL ones)... they had us measured, the baton was weighted for us.. and then we paid for it each week with our allowance.  I loved twirling!!!!  We had a lady at the grade school that taught us how to do it.  I was never very good at the tosses in the air and then catching it... pretty darn scary seeing that silver thing spinning and coming at your head!

Remember wearing barrettes... these cool ones?  I sure wish they made this kind today.  This was before we had much plastic and they were made from bak-o-lite (spelling?)  Wow... I sure wish I owned them now...they would be worth some $$$$$$$$$$$$$  !!!  Aren't these colors so pretty..this is back when girls wore soft colors...pretty pastels!!

And...this.... girls and boys... was my all time favorite show!  The Red Skelton Hour.  Oh my gosh...this guy could make me belly laugh like no one else ever has!  What a talented, funny man!!! 

I have so many more... I'll share with you tomorrow....

You know.. all of these things are so special to me... it's the memories I guess.

We have a saying in our family... "Remember to make memories with your family"! 

It's so rewarding and so wonderful to look back....  are you making memories with your family?

Wow...what a fun day for me...!!  My Dayle, Eden, Elizibeth, Heather and Lexie will be with us today... we are cooking lunch together!!  I believe we are having home made calzones and mini pizzas.  I have a calzone press and Dayle loves to make them.  Doesn't that sound good?

I found some fun things to chat about today and they are all over the place...nothing seems to go together... but what the heck...who cares...right?

I thought this was so darn cute!!!  This is ice in a punch bowl at a Halloween Party!!!  Wouldn't it be cool to have one of those plastic spider rings on the ring finger?  HA!!!  They froze water in a surgical glove... then peeled off the glove and put it in the punch bowl.  Too Funny!!!!! It's surely a fun conversation piece while standing around the punch bowl!

I thought this was so cute.... Purchase one of those inexpensive styrofoam  pumpkins from the craft store... either use the plastic stick on letters (that's what I vote for) or if... you're really good... you can draw and paint them on... then top it with a sweet bow!  So cute sitting on your porch during the fall season! 

I'll tell you what... it's just unbelievable how beautiful the plants and flowers are in this world... don't you think?  I'm not sure what this plant is... but it's breath taking.... It looks like the cactus family...almost like an aloe plant... not sure.  I do know that from the looks of the prickly ends... I wouldn't want to fall on top of it.  Just so gorgeous!

I burst out laughing when I saw this picture.  This is a roller coaster in Japan!  Yes... you are looking at it correctly...it's going under water!  I tried to find out more information on it... but the posting wouldn't let me go any further.  My friend, Cathy.... she would love this.  She's one of those crazy gals that LOVES roller coasters!  NOT ME... NO WAY!!  Can you imagine the rush in your body when you see yourself heading for the water.  OMG!!  I could just "up chuck" looking at this!

Hey Cathy... you need to put this on your "Bucket List" !!!!

Another flower that I think is simply beautiful is the hydrangea... I especially love the cone shaped ones.  Aren't these beautiful?  I remember when we sold the gorgeous silk ones in the store.. people loved them.  I wish I had some growing in my yard... I don't even care what color they are... I love all of them.  This is one of those items that I wish I would have purchased from the OGC!  Rats!!

What a cutie of an idea for the holiday!  These little name tag holders are made from candy canes and tied with a ribbon.  They have used glue to make them say together (the kind that dries clear).  This would be cute too... .with tags for a buffet - so people know what is in each dish!   It looks like there are 2 candy canes...there are 3... can you see the one in the back?  Don't forget that one so they will sit upright better.

p.s.  if you use glue to secure them together...make sure you tell your guests to NOT eat them.

I thought this was a sweet, sweet idea too.  They have taken regular "peel and pop" biscuits (from a can) and cut them in half.  They've typed sweet "I'm Thankful For" messages on small slips of paper and inserted them in between each piece of dough... then bake as instructed.  Be sure you tell your guests to check INSIDE their biscuit before eating.  They'll see your message to them!

Wow.. you cold use this idea for tons of different events... don't you think?  Let your mind wander... let me know what you come up with.

I remember one time when I worked for Barnett Bank in the Training Dept.  Our manager, Judy had us all for a department luncheon... they brought out all types of desserts for us...including Fortune Cookies.  She had our names on each one... which I thought was a bit strange.  When we gradually each began to open them... we read our message... and the looks on all of our faces was priceless!!!  Everyone in the department had been promoted or had been given extra vacation days... It was so wonderful.  I'll never forget opening mine and it read ... something like... Congratulations !  Due to all of your hard work and dedication to Barnett Bank, you have been promoted to Assistant Vice President!  Wow... I can still remember that day like it was yesterday!  Thanks Judy... LOVE YOU!

Ha...ha...ha.... Now how cute is this?  Wow.. .either they are great friends or this is ONE DUMB BIRD!!!  I remember our bird like this when we were kids... his name was "Ricky".  We would let him fly around the house in the evenings.. .he loved it... especially the kitchen floor.  It was linoleum...with small specks on it.  He would peck at that thing forever thinking it was food.  It's a wonder he had a beak left... and I'm sure he had one HECK of a HEAD ACHE.  I loved Ricky... he even talked.. especially to our dog - Peggy.  He would scream... Here Peggy... here Peggy... she would come running to the cage...then he would scream... Get Lost... Get Lost... and she would run away.  I remember mom having to cover him up with a towel so he would shut up!  They were pals!

Fun day today...sewing with Merryanne!  I'm soooooo trying to get projects done... but just like all of us ... new things crop up and before you know it... I'm behind!  Story of my life.

I've been playing on the computer so I'm a little late in my posting... so I'll type fast!!!

Ok...this... I would love to put this in my ear... and run my legs off!  But... gals...that is just not going to happen... not ever...ever!!!  So... my thoughts are... do you think if I listen to this while I'm sewing... keep tightening those butt muscles... breath from my diaphragm - deeply.... that I will loose weight????  Whatcha think????  Work with me here!!!  There's got to be a way to get exercise other than pushing on the sewing machine pedal.  If you can think of another way... PLEASE SHARE!!

I love this idea for the candles.  Don't you just love candles?  I sure do... I rarely burn them though...odd don't you think?  Well... this corn sitting with these orange candles is perfect for this fall.  Can't you just see 3 (always odd numbers) of them at different heights - sitting inside a beautiful FALL wreath on your dining room table... of course...all that sitting on a beautiful fall table top that you've quilted.  Oh so PRETTY!!

Then... here we go..my LOVE - galvanized stuff (weird huh?)  I think this is an adorable way to have a cute planter in your yard.  How easy to clean out and replant with different flowers or foliage and not have to dig up the yard.!!  I think it's genius and I just may have to make one of these sweet things.  Wouldn't it look beautiful with poinsettias for the holidays??? Mixed with paper whites?? (love them too)

What a cute, cute way to decorate a window... especially in a little girls room.  What fun collecting feminine umbrellas and then simply hanging them on a curtain rod!  Leaving them open a bit helps to fill up any vacant space between the umbrellas!  So darn clever!!

I just love beautiful frames and they are simply UNREASONABLE in prices!  Here they took a simple frame and added a touch of carved molding to the top!  Then distressed it to look old.  I think they are gorgeous!  You can buy these molding pieces at your local Lowes or Home Depot.  They may even have them in craft stores... I haven't checked there.  Wouldn't this look OH SO CUTE with a photo of each granddaughter in one + my sweet great granddaughter that will be making her debut soon?

Jello Molds... LOVE THEM!!!  They have so many cool uses (besides jello... does anyone do that anymore?)  I'm going to start a small collection of them and use them with my wool pin cushions.  They just add so much to the design!!  I'm on the hunt for them in antique stores...so if you see any ... LEAVE THEM THERE FOR ME!!  hahahahahahaha!!!

And...this is my FUNNY picture for the day... this is a TRUE - peanut butter, jelly and banana sandwich!!  Isn't this a cool idea???  Such fun for the kids to make for themselves... although I must admit... I could do with a little less banana!!!  More peanut butter and jelly!... with that big glass of COLD milk.  YUM!!!  Of course... my friend Cathy...she would not like this... she hates PEANUT BUTTER!!!  (I told her she was a sick person... to NOT like peanut butter...tee hee!!)
